Second picture is when you right click the IE icon on the taskbar or either program on Taskbar, you will able to see recent files in neatly arrange…

My Desktop PC vs Win 7

by on May.17, 2009, under AdamYong, comic talk

Windows 7 Boot Logo

Windows 7 Boot Logo

Running  the latest Operating System Windows 7 basically needs

  • 1 GHz or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
  • 1 GB RAM (32-bit) / 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
  • 16 GB available disk space (32-bit) / 20 GB (64-bit)
  • DirectX 9 graphics processor with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver

I’m running Windows 7 (32bi) in my desktop pc which specs are slightly higher than requirement.

  • Intel Pentium D 945 3.4GHz 4MB L2 cache
  • Abit AB9 Pro Motherboard with Intel P965/G965 Chipset (ICH8/R)
  • 2x Kingston 1GB DDR2 667 RAM
  • GeCube ATI x1600 512 DDR2 Virtual RAM Graphic Card
  • WD 320GB Harddisk

For my C drive i only set 38GB free for running my windows. Due to previous I partition it small.

Apart that, I recommend if you want to run Windows 7, the specs that I recommended are:

  • Processor 2.8GHz above
  • 2GB DDR 2 RAM (at least)
  • Free space for your C more than 40GB but less than 100GB in order for you to process faster
  • Latest Graphic Card which Windows 7 certified (mean can support win7)
  • Motherboard that at least support up ICH8/R above

Running Windows 7 it just like running Vista but each component process no matter application, system, etc is running faster than Vista.

In additional, current Windows 7 is under evaluation, it is Release Candidate Version, for developer, IT Professional, etc test it.

Okie, Problem I faced currently….

My driver, the graphic driver is not support as well my Abit uGuru component driver is not compatible with Win 7.

Sound Driver which I’m running Realtek and it is same driver which uses for Vista, therefore I installed it and it is running smoothly.

Software Problem

My Adobe Photoshop CS3 is not running and cannot be installed, it forces me to switch to latest CS4 version and it is compatible.

So far some software that I installed which compatible with Win 7 are:

  • Winrar 3.80 (somewhat compatible)
  • Winamp 5.552 (no conflict problem)
  • Firefox 3.0.10 (no conflict problem)
  • MSN Messenger  2009 (no conflict problem)
  • Babylon 7.0 (no conflict problem)
  • Flashget 1.96 (no conflict problem, just not to install winxp plugin)
  • Flashget 2.0 (no conflict problem, just not to install winxp plugin)
  • Adobe Reader 9.1 (no conflict problem)
  • PPStream (no conflict problem, just not to install winxp plugin)
  • K-lite Codec 4.80 (no conflict problem)
  • Real Alternative 1.90 (no conflict problem)
  • Eset NOD32 v4 Antivirus (Compatible with Windows 7)

All above are tested so far, more to be test lately.
